CARMEN CARMEN COLLECTS STOCKINGS TO GIVE LOW INCOME WOMEN

--Stockings for Success Pantyhose Drive In Partnership with Dress for Success Charlotte--
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (December 1, 2011) – Carmen Carmen Salons and Dress for Success Charlotte, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women, today announced a holiday-timed partnership called “Stockings for Success,” that will collect new, unopened pantyhose at three Carmen Carmen locations in Cotswold Village, Ballantyne Commons and Mallard Pointe throughout the month of December. With a goal of 300 pairs, each person who donates a package of new pantyhose or professional, work appropriate tights from Dec. 1-31, 2011 will receive $5 in Carmen Cash to spend in the salon on products or services.
“Throughout the year, we help hundreds of low income women move up and out of poverty, largely by providing suits for interviews and employment,” said Kerry Barr O’Connor, Executive Director of Dress for Success Charlotte. “This month-long partnership with Carmen Carmen Salons will allow us to offer our clients the finishing touch of hosiery.”
Carmen Cutrona, founder of the Charlotte-based Carmen Carmen Salon chain and North American Hairstylist of the Year, has made a career out of helping women look and feel their best for more than 30 years. Later this month, he will take his commitment to Dress for Success Charlotte one step further by providing “Styling for Success,” a half day of free haircuts by him and his team of stylists at the organization’s Boutique and Transformation Center on Clanton Road. Dress for Success Charlotte will identify and schedule the hair cut recipients.
“Style is about both appearance and confidence,” said Cutrona. “The combination of a great haircut, professional apparel and accessories like pantyhose can give women a leg up in any interview or work situation.”
Dress for Success Charlotte promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. While best known for its interview and employment suiting programs, Dress for Success Charlotte is more than a boutique. It is a Career Transformation Center that offers career retention and career advancement programs and services designed to help women move up and out of poverty and onto a path of self sufficiency.
